Are you a grown up?

So this is me, an adult. Moving back to Poland was like growing up in the fast-forward mode :)
There are good things about being a real adult:
- you have a good excuse to buy a lot of new clothes, suitable for an adult, responsible woman
- you get a lot more respect from people when you are dressed in adult clothes (you can even keep up that respect if your nails are bright pink, I checked)
- you have a lovely apartment where no one else is making a mess but you
- plus an extra bonus, your family is happy (I think!)

So I have done the above, or actually I am still in the process of buying more adult clothes. Which is necessary, since growing up did not stop me from spilling things, falling on things, things falling on me... As a result, i need a lot of clothes, no joke.

So, to all adults out there. Controlled growing up is managable :)

PS: But I still cannot wait for the third week of December, when I am in Holland for a couple of days, planning on temporarily rewinding the growing up thingy!

Goodbye and tot ziens, Maastricht!

I have just left Maastricht permanently. It was very busy two weeks of last lunches, last suppers (lol), last volleyball trainings.. and moreover, packing packing packing. It is absolutely unbelievable how much stuff humans accumulate. Or it's not humans, it's just me. Anyways, 140 kg of only my personal belongings are travelling to Poland with the post as we speak, and, fingers crossed, they shall arrive mid of next week.

I don't want to take time here saying how much Maastricht means to me, cause it sounds so overdramatic when I try to express it. Let's just say that I will not forget how amazing time I had there with great great people.

Above the poster that I got from my friends...

I will be back! Xmas party, here I come :)

I encountered the website beautiful revolution by a coincidence but I absolutely love the style of the cards there! I hope you like them too!

Endings

Yesterday I finished my work in Maastricht. For a couple more days I will be hanging around in Maastricht and at the end of the month I will move to Poland.

I must say last days at work are extremely nice. People that usually don't express that much are telling you how much they appreciate your work, your team instead of playing practical joke on you (lol) is cutting the badge leashes and combining them as a ribbon on the package of the goodbye poster... amazing...

I realize how much I am gonna miss my company, only because of the people that are there. So many fun people in one building is very difficult to find!

Thank you, all the CAC people, for all the good times!

PS: remember when I got a birthday present of all kinds of nail polishes from my team? Below my little present to them on my last working day :)

What I wore this week?

Do you know Brinja from Danemark? If not, quick introduction.
Brinja has an adorable daughter. I need to start from that because the girl is just so cute, especially when paired together with the daughter of her sister! You probably also have that, that when you see a picture of a kid, it makes you go like "oooohhhhhhhhhhhh". Yes. So now imagine that the picture contains two equally cute little baby girls! (and the word "equally" in this case can be taken literally).
Moreover, and maybe more relevant to this post, Brinja has a blog. And the blog (don't worry, I am getting there with my story!) contains a very cool serie called "What you wore this week".

Aaaand I was featured this week, check it out yourself! See, that was the point of the story, hahaha!

Sth About Holland

Looking through my profile on Facebook I found back a note I wrote one and a half years ago "12 reasons why I like Holland". Now, facing my moving back to Poland within 3 weeks of time, is I think a good time to post the note here!

1. For the average height. 185 for guys, 171 for girls. Would I have a life in, let's say, Wietnam (respectively162 and 152)...?

2. For the sincere highest appreciation for anything that could be called sun.

3. For teaching me how to bike properly. Anyone who thinks he knows it, I say, come over and try it here. Try in heavy rain, with wind blowing straight into your face, up the bridge (cause there are no hills). In a skirt. Tight skirt, I suggest.

4. For having no hills around - biking wouldn't be possible. For hiking, Belgium is round the corner.

5. For lazy Sunday afternoons in Coffee Lovers. Actually, Coffee Lovers could be a reason in itself.

6. For Stroopwafels. Full of calories, but so freakin' good!

7. For continuous misspelling my name and/or address on the tickets from a police.

8. For daring to play Dutch carnival/oktoberfest songs at the parties in the bars. First found it annoying, now amusing.

9. For no dubbing in TV. Germany has a lot to learn in this respect.

10. For the greatest celebration in the year..... when Santa is coming to town (three weeks, by the way).

11. For the funniest sound of bye - "OI OI"

12. For no longer "you, in Maastricht" but "we in Maastricht".

PS: Small correction about reason 8: I still find it annoying. I must have been in a really good mood when writing that note, haha! The rest of the reasons still valid!

Look after yourself

Two days ago I had a traumatising experience. I was robbed when biking home from the city in the middle of the night. Living for almost two and a half years in Maastricht, that is widely perceived as one of the safest places in the world, I used to make fun of people who would ask me if I am not afraid to bike alone back after dark. I used to make fun of it, because I couldn't imagine what could happen to me.. I'm a fast biker, I can drive over anyone who wants to stop me on my way, that's what I used to say.

Well this post is to tell you all (especially girls) that bad things can happen and they happen fast and unexpected. No matter how fierce you are, better ensure that nothing happens to you. Until you experience it, you cannot imagine a feeling when u are suddenly attacked by a stranger in the night.

So my appeal here today to all of you. If you don't like to ask guys for favors, just take the taxi home.

Autumnish

I saw some shots from Karen Walker collection via one of my fav blogs Turned Out by Maya and I had to check out the autumn/winter collection.

See for yourself below, but I really adore it. The fabrics, the brown flats, the huge caps, but especially the outfits with over-knee socks. Probably because I keep on buying the over-knees and I never have guts to actually put them on :)

The collection sets me in a very autumnish mood and makes me think of this song

Have a good Sunday everyone!

As I got older

... recently I have celebrated my birthday - and I was lucky enough to celebrate it in Poland and in Holland! Good planning, huh? :)

I got amazing presents from my dearest in both countries! I will not post the pictures of all of them, but some of them are just so decorative, that I had to make a picture and show it to you!! As you will see from the pictures, there is a new brand Maison Scotch in Maastricht, that we are recently highly influenced by!

Close, but not stilleto :)

Hahaha, I just took this quiz recommened by How About Orange.

Try it yourself, it's quite tricky! I got 4 out of 6 right, which means that I am close, but not stilleto. Still, I am so lucky that I did not go below 3 - being designer DNA defficient would just ruin my weekend! :)

Have a great weekend everyone!

Unfortunately the end of the summer is approaching... It is not happy news but my itinerary for September is nice enough to keep me looking forward to the beginning of autumn.
Even though, it is nice to look back at the summer photos to realize, we have done a lot of cool stuff together!

Alexa Chung for Madewell fall collection

Hmm... It is a bit playing with my own feelings, when I watch the previews of the fall collection of Madewell by Alexa Chung. Even Madewell prices are not very affordable for me plus it means again shipping from US... Probably not gonna happen, but still, so nice to see those pieces!

I luv Greece...

I did not get yet to write about Greece. And Greece was amazing. I still keep my flight ticket, just for memory:)

What I will remember the most and why:

1) Very top of Lukavittos hill in the middle of the night - for amazing view and thoughts on how suprisingly small this world is

2) Anafiotika - for wondering how this cute maze of tiny little streets and houses can be hidden so well in peace, just 5 minutes away from the "city jungle"...*

3) Stoned wall on the outer side of Hydra - for beautiful sunset, amazing view on the harbour and no crowd around.

4) Open air cinema in the heart of Athens - for carefuly selected good movies that you have never had a chance to see before, for a view on Akropolis and for cinema time with simultanous cigarette and ice cream!

5) Cute restaurant right by the sea in the ancient Epidavros. For good mood and good food.

6) Enlighted petrol stations in the middle of the night. For petrol, when you think you are not gonna make it home cause all other stations are closed...

7) Tent almost next to sea - for the simplicity of good time

*Every now and then you might see a lost tourist desperately looking for entrance to Akropolis and melting fast in 40 degrees sun.

Getting older

No, I do not have birthday today... However, today morning, I was checking the Facebook of my dear cousin Ola and I loved the songs that she was posting there - and I realized, I didn't know those songs! That's the music of the next generation! I used to show her my music!! Now my little cousin is all grown up and instead, I m all old and outdated...aaaaaaaaa!

Promise number 1: by checking the music of my cousin, I will pretend that I m following the music developments.

If promise number 1 fails, I will

Promise number 2: keep my grounds that back in the days the music was simply better. :)

As for today's fullfillment of promise number 1, here is to all of you who, as me, realized, after 25 its easy to become very quickly much less cool...

Do you know the feeling of everlasting considerations before choosing outfit that is just in? I don't know about you, but I always keep on wondering which trends are suitable for me, what can I/can't I pull off?

Below some thinking for you to do... what do you choose?

Free girl from Free People

I did some reading on thee Free People website and I must say: I love how well the site is done, plus, I sincerely like their stuff.

The description of the girl they target is:

And that's just who we wanted to reach: a 26-year-old girl, smart, creative, confident and comfortable in all aspects of her being, free and adventurous, sweet to tough to tomboy to romantic. A girl who likes to keep busy and push life to its limits, with traveling and hanging out and everything in between. Who loves Donovan as much as she loves The Dears, and can't resist petting any dog that passes her by on the street.

At least the age and the dog petting fit to me:)

Aaaand... if you want to learn how to manage your hair better, watch Free People fishtail braid how-to! blog video. So useful!

Summer heat

Ok, having above 30 degrees temperatures in consecutive 2-3 weeks...

In these times you realise that most of you summer clothes are somehow way too thick (Black t-shirt? What was i thinking?? Leggins to the mini skirt???).
TGFS - Thank God For Sales- you get new summer clothes. You only feel like wearing white... even if normally takes u less than 5 minutes to get any white clothes dirty. Still. You take the risk. You buy an orange lipstick to add some edge to white clothes you are wearing. White clothes - orange lips - brown skin - blue sky.

And suddenly the best timing to get an ice coffee at the terrase is at midnight...

Summer caught us by surprise, but please, let it last...

Posko, nadciagam!

Wohoo, tomorrow I'm going to Poland for a little visit! Cannot wait to see my crazy family and later next week, all my dear friends!

Luckily I already managed to make the schedule packed so that I can see as many of my friends as possible. Thank you guys for always being patient with me and my tight deadlines... Happy to see you soon!

Selah Sue for those who didn't hear yet

Oh this has been a busy beginning of the weekend. Lots of socializing, which I love, and more importantly, need. And tomorrow will be even more fun, since tomorrow I'm going for the Selah Sue concert.

Below is one of my favourite songs of Selah.. unbelivable how such a young artist can compose (yes, she does it herself) and sing the music so mature. She reminds me a bit of Nneka, so if you like Nneka, definitely check out Selah's music!

Yay, cannot wait for tomorrow evening:)

12 Jun 2010

DIY - my new earrings!

I made my new earings using the little ribbons that are usually attached to new clothes, you know, so that they dont fall off the hanger. Which is exactly why the colour of the ribbon matches exactly the colour of the t-shirt that I want to wear it with. The creative usage of those ribbons is a genious idea of my friend Aude :)

Now I just came back from shopping for more jewellery bits, so the saga will continue...
